Thunder Bay Police Seek to lay Willful Promotion of Hate Charges

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Thunder Bay Police Service is seeking approval from the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General for the charge of Willful Promotion of Hatred.

The Thunder Bay Police have laid charges on a 15-year-old Thunder Bay male in relation to an assault investigation that began on July 4, 2018.

The 27-year-old female victim was identified and provided a statement to police which led to the youth being arrested midday on July 13, 2018, without incident. He will appear in court charged with Assault and Willful Promotion of Hatred.

The charges stem from a Thunder Bay Police investigation into an assault which was captured through social media. It is believed the incident occurred in the vicinity of Water and Camelot Streets. The cell phone video shows a male striking a female. The time and date of the incident were not known to police at the early stages of the investigation.
