Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure and Arrests

THUNDER BAY – Another large seizure and arrests for drugs were made by members of the TBPS Guns & Gangs Unit, Drug Unit and Community Response Team. Officer conducted a traffic stop and executed a search warrant yesterday afternoon, which resulted in the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of guns, drugs, and cash.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, a vehicle was stopped just after 5:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Harold Street and two males and two females were arrested for drug-related charges. At approximately 6:45 p.m. a search warrant was executed on a residence in the 100 block of North McKellar Street. Another male was taken into custody. The search resulted in the seizure of Cocaine and Marihuana valued at approximately $20,000, Canadian currency estimated at $10,000 and three handguns with loaded magazines. One handgun had the serial number filed off.

They appeared in court this morning on the following charges:

Chelsey Nicole Hardy – 34-year-old female, Thunder Bay
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Obstruct Peace Officer

Sarah Lynn Andrychuk – 38-year-old female, Thunder Bay
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

Kingsley Ivan Christie – a 20-year-old male, Pickering, Ontario
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2
– Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x3
– Prohibited or Restricted Firearm x3
– Careless Storage of a Firearm x3
– Tamper with Serial Number of Firearm
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance
– Breach of Probation x2

Antoine Peters – a 19-year-old male, Toronto, Ontario
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of A Controlled Substance
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
– Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x3
– Prohibited or Restricted Firearm x3
– Careless Storage of a Firearm x3
– Tamper with Serial Number of Firearm

A 17-year-old male, Mississauga, Ontario
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2
– Possession of A Controlled Substance
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2
– Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x3
– Prohibited or Restricted Firearm x3
– Careless Storage of a Firearm x3
– Tamper with Serial Number of Firearm

The three males and one female have been remanded into custody while the other female has been released with future court date.
