Forest Fire Update

THUNDER BAY – There were four new fires confirmed by the afternoon of Wednesday, June 13. Nipigon Fire Number 7 is not under control at 2 hectares. Nipigon Fire Number 8 is not under control at 1.0 hectare. Both of these lightning-caused fires are located between Auger Lake and the Albany River. Dryden Fire Number 11 is being observed at 0.4 hectares and is located on an island on Mattawa Lake. Nipigon Fire Number 9 is not under control at 5 hectares and is located southwest of Webequie First Nation.

The forest fire hazard is high to extreme in the southern portions of the region and low to moderate in the northern portions of the region.
