THUNDER BAY – NEWS – At 19:48 on Saturday, June 2, 2018, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a reported structural fire at 900 John St. The first arriving units encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear, first floor and attic area of the duplex. All occupants were reported to be out of the home.

Using an aggressive offensive attack the fire on the main floor was contained. Converting to a defensive mode the fire in the attic area was extinguished. Crews were successful in preventing extension of the fire to the adjoining side of the duplex. With assistance from Superior North EMS and Thunder Bay Police, the scene was controlled and the occupants cared for. The Red Cross was contacted and cared for the 4 occupants displaced by the fire.

8 fire apparatus responded to the call, Platoon Chief, Aerial ladder, 5 pumpers, and an inspection vehicle. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
