THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for significant amounts of rainfall for parts of Northern Ontario. The low ceilings and rain could impact air travel into northern communities. Contact your airline to ensure your flights are operating on schedule.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Webequie
  • Ear Falls – Perrault Falls – Western Lac Seul
  • Red Lake – Woodland Caribou Park
  • Sioux Lookout – Eastern Lac Seul
  • Pickle Lake – Cat Lake
  • Summer Beaver – Wunnummin Lake – Kingfisher Lake

Significant rainfall amounts possible today and tonight.

A few rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect the area today and tonight as a large and moisture laden disturbance affects the region. However, there will also be significant gaps in the precipitation from time to time as well.

While total rainfall amounts will vary considerably across the area, some of the thunderstorms may produce very heavy downpours.

Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are possible, especially in areas that receive several thunderstorms.
