THUNDER BAY – Arbor Day is a chance for residents to make Thunder Bay a cleaner, greener and more beautiful place to live. Organized by the City’s Parks & Open Spaces Section, Arbor Day will take place this Saturday, May 26 at 10 am, at Albany Parkette, 367 Munro St.
The event will include the planting of large caliper trees and shrubs. There will also be an opportunity to speak with members of the EarthCare Thunder Bay’s Community Greening Group and learn more about the urban forest.
“We’re excited to be celebrating Arbor Day in Thunder Bay for the 12th year,” said Mike Dixon, Supervisor of Forestry & Horticulture. “Volunteers are helping us improve the urban forest by planting trees and shrubs at Albany Parkette. We are also encouraging residents to plant a tree on their own property to celebrate Arbor Day.”
