Fort Frances OPP Seize Firearms and Drugs in Traffic Stop

During the night of April 27, 2018 members of the Ontario Provincial Police in the Rainy River District conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle which had four occupants. During the traffic stop it was learned the male driver was wanted on a Warrant from the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The male was arrested and subsequent investigation revealed that all the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of a loaded prohibited firearm; a quantity of a drug suspected to be Methamphetamine; and a quantity of Canadian cash. All persons in the vehicle were charged with multiple firearms and drug trafficking-related charges from the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit and Community Street Crime Unit also assisted in the investigation.

The four persons charged in this investigation are:

  • 25 year old Travis Thayer of Winnipeg, Manitoba,
  • 34 year old Samantha Calder of Winnipeg, Manitoba,
  • 28 year old Brenna Adams of Fort Frances, Ontario, and
  • 35 year old Margaret Woods of Fort Frances, Ontario.

All four accused were held in custody and will be appearing in the Fort Frances, Ontario Court of Justice on Monday April 30, 2018.
