THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Outlook Statement for the Lakehead Region including: the Township of O’Connor and the Township of Gillies.

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority advises that ice jamming is occurring on the Whitefish River in the vicinity of Harstone Road.

The public is advised to exercise caution in the area of the Whitefish River as water levels may rise without warning.

People living in the area should use extreme caution and pay attention to local conditions until the ice jamming dissipates.

A Watershed Conditions Statement- Flood Outlook is issued to give early notice of the potential for flooding.

Authority Staff will continue to monitor conditions as part of its flood forecasting and warning program.
