THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Workers at the Port Arthur Medical Clinic represented by Unifor are walking the picket line today. Andy Savela from Unifor has the Union side of the issue. Savela states if the workers accept the offer from management, by next year they will be two cents under Ontario’s minimum wage law.

On the picket line yesterday, Savala tells NetNewsLedger he was hit by a driver who was crossing the picket line.

There are picketers at the vehicle entrance as well as at the bus stop on River Street.

Workers are telling stories of having worked at the clinic for years, but that they don’t get washroom breaks, only a half hour lunch, and that there are times they are working longer than eight hours daily. Workers say their depth of patient care is the reasons they are doing this, but that they also want their employers to care more about them.
