Because of the smoke that could be seen from the Fire Stations, a second alarm was initiated immediately responding another two pumpers and an Aerial Ladder, bringing the total firefighting personnel to 21. The first arriving pumper crew
The first arriving pumper crew was faced with a fully involved detached garage, smoke and flames venting from the large overhead door. A 45 mm attack line was utilized with another put in play when other units arrived on scene. The intensity of the fire melted siding on the residence and damaged a fence and various recreational vehicles.
Initial firefighting efforts were confined to the exterior of the structure as oxy-acetylene bottles were present inside the structure. The fire was brought under control by rotating crews on the attack lines, cooling the flames and hot spots. The cause of the blaze was determined to be welding in the garage.
Damage is heavy to the structure and contents.
No injuries occurred due to the fire.
