Thunder Bay – Entertainment – The streets of the Bay and Algoma District in Thunder Bay were lively and filled with fun as a large gathering of people came together to celebrate St. Urho’s Day.
The tongue in cheek celebration has been going on on Thunder Bay for thirty years. Event organizer Heleena Stephens says that the event which includes a parade, music, food, and fun has been growing every year.
St. Urho’s Day is a counter to St. Patrick’s Day, which the mythical Finnish Saint Urho is helping to get rid of the grasshoppers.
The event is hosted by the Finlandia Club, and the food is prepared by the world famous Hoito Restaurant.
There were music and drumming and lots for everyone to do as families gathered to enjoy the day.
