Statement from Leadership Election Organizing Committee Chair Hartley Lefton

TORONTO – The Ontario Progressive Conservatives will elect the party’s new leader later today.

Hartley Lefton has issued the following statement:
“Today, Ontario PC members will elect our new Leader and Ontario’s next Premier. 64,053 members voted – more than twice the number of votes cast in the 2009 leadership race. This makes it the highest turnout in Party history.

“Whichever candidate emerges victorious this afternoon will lead our Party into the next election. The Leadership process will come to its conclusion today.

“It has been an honour and privilege to serve our Party during this critical time in its history. I offer my deepest thanks to the countless volunteers who helped make this happen. And I look forward to offering my sincere congratulations to our new Leader.”
