Thunder Bay Police Arrest Charles Casmey

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have Charles Casmey in custody. Police had issued a Canada-Wide-Warrant for the suspect in a Homicide and Aggravated Assault incident that happened on February 25th.

Charles CASMEY surrendered to police at 9:25 p.m. He exited a residence on the 500 block of McTavish Street as a result of a police operation involving the Thunder Bay Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police.

Residents who have been evacuated were allowed back in their homes.

The area had been contained by the TBPS Emergency Task Unit and residents in the immediate vicinity were evacuated to ensure public safety.

McTavish Street between Christie and McNaughton Streets had been closed to traffic.

Casmey is the suspect in a homicide that at a residence in the 500 block of McLaughlin Street.

A 911 call from a female was received at 5:40 a.m. requesting police and ambulance to attend the residence. When officers arrived they located a 63-year-old male who was deceased and a 25-year-old female who was injured. The female was taken to the hospital by ambulance, treated and released.

The victims and the suspect in this incident are known to each other.
