Local Photographer Kevin Palmer featured in Canadian Mining Journal

THUNDER BAY – ART – Kevin Palmer’s photo of a miner at the Musselwhite Mine is featured on the cover of this month’s Canadian Mining Journal.

The photo taken a half mile underground is part of a series celebrating Goldcorp’s Gender and Cultural Diversity and features Musselwhite’s Underground Mechanical Specialist Lorraine Gesic.

“Creating the right lighting is the key to capturing great images. Industrial and especially underground mining shots requires years of understanding how to get the perfect shot.”

This is Palmer’s twenty-ninth magazine cover photo in the last 4 years.

Palmer has been selected as the Official Photographer at this week’s “Women in Mining” Banquet Celebrations at the PDAC Convention in Toronto with work his work being featured on the Jumbotron in downtown Toronto.

Palmer spent five years as the Strategy Manager for the Province of Manitoba’s Outdoor Tourism and works presently freelancing and handling the sales and marketing duties with Saskatchewan’s Discovery Geophysics.

Palmer is a Master Photographer specializing in difficult lighting situations and creating sales and marketing campaigns and works from his studio in Thunder Bay on Onion Lake Road.
