LONDON – Changing your shopping habits and planning ahead can help you save money on your weekly shop, but sometimes that isn’t enough. If you’re serious about saving money on your family weekly shop, you are in the right place. While short term loans can help you in a financial emergency, there are countless ways you can cut the cost of your weekly shopping receipt. Find out exactly how below.

Avoid The Deli Section

Walking past the deli section of a supermarket is both the best and worst part of the weekly shop. Showcasing several exotic looking treats, it can be incredibly hard to not put those nicely packaged goods into your basket. Even though the appeal of these treats is incredibly tempting, if you take a closer look, you will see that some of the items are available elsewhere – for a fraction of the price.

Don’t Use A Shopping Trolley

Speaking about adding goods to your basket, you should avoid using a shopping trolley. Even though it is far more convenient to push your goods around instead of carrying them and alternating hands depending on which hurts the most, it will cost you a small fortune, adding a significant amount of unnecessary expenses to your shopping bill. With this in mind, the next time you walk into Sainsbury’s, Tesco or Morrison’s, instead of scurrying around in the hope to find a spare pound at the bottom of your handbag, head directly towards the shopping baskets.

Shop Alone

Shopping with your little ones presents numerous challenges, including that they will want to put countless goods conveniently decorated with their favourite Power Ranger or My Little Pony into the basket – not to mention the inconvenience of juggling your children in and out of shopping trolleys. Due to this, shopping by yourself can help save you the embarrassment of a whining child, and – of course – money. Shopping alone means that you are in charge, enabling you to spend time hunting for bargainous deals instead of rushing around in order to leave as quickly as possible.

Choose Own Brand Products

Choosing the best value food and drink begins when you opt for own brand products instead of overpriced, branded goods.  Despite what many believe, value supermarket brands are just as good – if not better – as those plastered with fancy advertising, and can help you save a significant amount of money over time. Swapping your big food brands with those provided by your local supermarket can be daunting, but do not fret. Thousands have said that they have been unable to taste the difference between premium and own brand products, so you can rest assured that these products are completely safe and delicious to feed your family.

Saving money on your weekly food shop has never been easier, and with these tips, you could cut your food bill in half. With this in mind, the next time you walk into your local supermarket, stop and think about what you plan to buy, and again before you head to the checkout in order to save money. Good luck!
