KENORA – NEWS – On February 26, 2018, shortly after 8:00 am, members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a sudden death at a residence on the 800 block of Railway Street in the City of Kenora. The female victim who has been identified as 77-year-old Brenda RICHARDSON from Fort Frances was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trenton RICHARDSON, a 26-year-old male former Kenora resident, has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm contrary to section 267(b) of the Criminal Code. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Members of the OPP North West Region Crime Unit, the Regional Support Team and Forensic Identification Services under the direction of Detective Inspector Darryl Sigouin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

The post-mortem will take place at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) in Toronto on Thursday, March 1, 2018.
