Snowfall overnight over 15 CM

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – All weather warnings and alerts for Thunder Bay District and the City of Thunder Bay have ended as of 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 25, 2018.

It is Sunday snow shovelling for Thunder Bay and many parts of the North Shore of Lake Superior today after an overnight snowfall dumped at least 15 cm of snow.

Digging out might not be the easiest as strong winds are expected. Environment Canada reports, “Snow at times heavy ending this morning then cloudy with 30 percent chance of flurries. Additional amounts of 2 cm possible. Winds east 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming west 30 gusting to 50 this morning. Today’s high minus 1.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

The weather service at 06:00 am this morning says, “Snowfall, with total amounts 15 to locally 20 cm expected.

“A fast-moving low pressure system currently approaching Lake Superior will reach Northern Quebec this evening. Snow moved into the region overnight and will continue heavy at times north of Superior this morning before tapering off.”

 

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
