Snowfall Warning February 24 2018


THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The storm system working its way toward Northwestern Ontario has moved from New Mexico where it was at 05:30 AM this morning into Oklahoma.

Environment Canada is predicting that up to 15 cm of snow will fall in Thunder Bay starting later tonight and lasting through until Sunday.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Geraldton – Longlac – Caramat
  • Manitouwadge – Hornepayne
  • Marathon – Schreiber
  • Nipigon – Rossport

Environment Canada says, “A fast-moving low-pressure system over Oklahoma this morning will cross the Great Lakes tonight into Sunday. Snow will begin later this evening or near midnight and fall heavily at times into Sunday morning before ending.”

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith

10 to potentially 20 cm of snow likely.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
