Road Conditions Demand Winter Driving Skills

Roads in and around Thunder Bay are snow covered. Drive with care today - and everyday.


THUNDER BAY – Snow in Thunder Bay and area is making roads and sidewalks slippery. Already this morning there are reports of accident coming in from across the city.

The OPP report on several accidents in the area, including the tweeted accident with minor injuries.

Taking care on the roads is important and should go without saying, but via social media posts this morning many people are reporting drivers glued to their cellphones, or texting while driving.

Road crews in Thunder Bay are out, so major routes are being cleared. It will take some time for all the side streets to be cleared.

This morning there is an accident on Highway 17 in the Kenora region.

Members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a collision on Highway 17, east of Willard Lake. The highway is currently closed at this time. Police received a complaint of a Motor Vehicle Collision at 8:25 a.m. between a pick-up truck and a Tractor Trailer Unit. There are 3 occupants, the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. The investigation is continuing.
