THUNDER BAY – DAYSTARTER – Good morning Northwestern Ontario. Hope your holiday weekend was enjoyable. In Thunder Bay, you are waking up to a dusting of snow. The forecast is calling for another 2-4 cm. Winds today are forecast to be northeast 20 km/h becoming light this morning. Today’s high minus 12. For Kenora, it is slightly colder with cloudy skies.  Environment Canada is calling for periods of snow beginning early this morning with total amounts of 2 cm expected. Winds are forecast to be up to 15 km/h. High minus 15. Wind chill minus 26 this morning.

There are Extreme Cold Warnings for Fort Severn and Peawanuck in the far north.

  1. Caroline Mulroney will make a swing through Thunder Bay next Tuesday on her Northern Ontario PC Leadership Campaign Tour. The public are encouraged to come out and meet Caroline along with local and regional candidates at the Sleeping Giant brewery starting at 7:30 pm. Caroline will be joined by Greg Rickford the candidate for Kenora and Chief Bull who will represent the PCs in the new riding north of Kenora.The Progressive Conservative Party is hosting the event at the Sleeping Giant Brewery at 712 MacDonell Street tonight at 7:30 pm. The PCs, however, advise that all details are subject to change.

The 38 Canadian Brigade Group’s Thunder Bay-based units at O’Kelly VC Armoury in Thunder Bay are hosting an Open House on February 21, 2018.This event gives the Thunder Bay community a chance to interact with Canadian Army Reservists.Who: Thunder Bay Armoury Units: Lake Superior Scottish Regiment, 38 Signal Regiment, 38 Service Battalion, and 18 Field Ambulance
    When: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018
    Where: O’Kelly VC Armoury, 317 Park Ave Thunder Bay, Ont.

Gas Up for Less

The lowest prices for a litre of gasoline continue to be in Dryden. Fuel prices across the region range from $1.109  at the Co-op and the Safeway in Dryden, $1.219 at the Husky on Chipman Street in Kenora,  In Thunder Bay, the lowest price in the city is $1.216 at the Real Canadian Superstore on Memorial. Out on the Fort William First Nation, gas prices range from $1.037 at THP to $1.139 at First Class Gas. You can get the latest gas prices, including Grand Marias MN at GasPrices on NetNewsLedger.
