THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Thunder Bay and the region north of Lake Superior right to Sault Ste. Marie.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Marathon – Schreiber
  • Nipigon – Rossport

Snowstorm on the way

A disturbance approaching from the Northern Plains States is expected to spread an area of snow across the region beginning midday. Latest indications suggest total snowfall amounts of near 15 cm are quite possible by late tonight. The heaviest snow will fall this afternoon and early this evening and visibilities may be significantly reduced.

Hazardous winter driving conditions from accumulating snow on untreated roads and low visibility in areas of heavier snow are expected with this weather system. Motorists should be prepared to change travel plans accordingly.
