THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Coach Chris Green and the Lakehead women’s volleyball program announced today that 5’7″ right side Virginie Franks will join the team for the 2018-19 season.
“When I went up to Lakehead, there was a great atmosphere with the players. They were all so welcoming to me. They were very close and acted like a family. I enjoyed my time with the coach and he made me work very hard,” said Virginie. “Lakehead is a compact campus so everything is within easy walking distance. The residence is very close to the campus and the gym. Lakehead also has first choice in University programs.”
Coming from the national contending Mavericks Volleyball Club in Ottawa, Virginie graduated from Franco-Cité and will be seeking her degree at Lakehead in Applied Life Sciences.
“We are so excited to have another athlete from the Mavericks join us, Linda Melnick and Judi Mousseau are established coaches who know what the next level is about. In Virginie we have a versatile well-rounded athlete who can contribute to us in any way. She brings a toughness that is desired, and a skill set that benefits our growth. As a left-handed attacker, she changes our dynamic along with the other Lefty’s we have. We look forward to having Virginie here as soon as she can get here in the fall,” says Coach Green.
