THUNDER BAY – Police were on scene Wednesday evening on Heron Street for what was called a dangerous situation.

Police requested that members of the public stay away from the block contained within the area of Ogden Street to Finlayson Street and Simpson Street to McKenzie Street. The situation developed following reports of a man with a weapon and followed with a standoff that was resolved when a man and woman were taken into custody.

Thunder Bay Police Service is advising the public that the incident on Heron Street has been resolved safely and the area has been opened. Residents who were asked to leave for their safety are now able to go home.

A police presence at the scene will be ongoing as the investigation continues. However, the public’s safety in relation to this incident is no longer a concern.

Police have a male and female in custody at this time.
