DRYDEN – The Dryden Police Service report on incidents in their jurisdiction.

Collison closes Highway 17 down near Tim Hortons

On January 4, 2018, Dryden Police Service, Dryden Fire Service and the Northwest EMS responded to a 2 vehicle collision near Tim Hortons that caused police to shut down Highway 17 for a short time. The collision occurred when a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was driving eastbound, lost control and entered the westbound lane, colliding with a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was extracted from the vehicle by Dryden Fire Service and transported to the hospital with injuries. The 44-year-old driver and 14-year-old passenger of the Equinox were also transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

No charges were laid in this collision and the cause of the attributed to icy road conditions.

41 Year Old Male in Custody Following a Domestic

On January 5, 2018, police responded to a domestic in progress where a 41-year-old male has been charged with one count of Domestic Assault on a 29-year-old female, one count of Domestic Mischief and Careless Storage of a Firearm. The accused in this matter is appearing for a Bail Hearing today in Sioux Lookout.
