Charges Laid Following Accident In School Parking Lot

    THUNDER BAY – On December 22, 2017, TBPS patrol officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Hammarskjold High School at 12:50 p.m. to investigate a collision between a vehicle and the neighbouring St. Puis X School.

    Investigators discovered that a 17-year-old male was driving the vehicle through the parking lot and was turning to exit onto Clarkson St when the driver lost control of the vehicle that clipped the corner of the building.

    The vehicle has extensive damage and the building minor damage. The 17-year-old male driver and the 14-year-old male passenger were not injured.

    It was found by police that the G1 driver had just purchased the vehicle and did not have it properly registered and insured.

    The driver has been charged with Provincial Offences including:

    1. Operate motor vehicle with no insurance
    2. Drive motor vehicle without a permit
    3. G1 drive with no G Driver in Vehicle

    The investigation is ongoing.

    None of the charges have been proven in court.
