Kenora OPP Arrest Winnipeg Man Following Calls of Suspicious Man

KENORA – REGIONAL – On Friday, December 15, 2017, shortly before 10:00 am, members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to multiple calls of a suspicious male in the area of Valley Drive and Ninth St North in the City of Kenora.

Police attended and located a subject matching the description of the reported male. The investigation led to the arrest and search of the suspect. The search resulted in the location of nearly 30 grams of cocaine, Canadian currency, and other items associated with the drug trafficking trade. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be nearly $3000.00.

As a result of this investigation, 39-year-old Joseph NORMAND of Winnipeg, MB, has been charged with Resist Peace Officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime s. 354(1)(a) CC and Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
