OPP Provide Update on Cat Lake Death Investigation

CAT LAKE – On December 6, 2017, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) requested the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a result of a death investigation involved two persons in the community of Cat Lake First Nations.

Officers with NAPS, OPP North West Region Crime Unit, Provincial Liaison Team and the Forensic Identification Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Darryl Sigouin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), are assisting the Office of the Regional Corner in investigating the circumstances surrounding these deaths.

A post-mortem examination will take place in Kenora with the time and date yet to be determined by Forensic Pathology Services.

The OPP and NAPS state that there is no threat to/or public safety concerns as a result of this investigation.
