Accident Claims Life of 73 Year Old Kenora Woman

KENORA – NEWS – The Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of Technical Traffic Collison Investigators (TTCI) and the OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 17.

On Sunday, December 3, 201, just before 3:30 pm, the Kenora OPP were notified of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 at Lindsay Road, west of Kenora. Police, Fire and Ambulance attended and it was determined that an east bound sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a west bound tractor trailer unit (TTU) in the westbound lane. The female driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the TTU was uninjured. The highway was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The female driver has been identified as 73 year old Mary KOZAK of Kenora.

The investigation is continuing.
