Two Police Officers Injured During Arrest

THUNDER BAY – The job of police officer is one fraught with risk and danger. Two Thunder Bay Police Service officers were assaulted on Tuesday following an arrest attempt.

Police report that on November 14, 2017, patrol officers were dispatched to the Real Canadian Superstore just before 11:00 p.m., for a male being assaultive with staff and after being asked to leave the business.

A few minutes’ later officers found the male matching the description at the Wendy’s Restaurant parking lot, and approached him to caution him about his earlier actions.

The male became aggressive and assaultive toward the officers.

He was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of other officers.

Two officers were injured during this altercation but did not require medical attention.

The accused will appear in court today charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief
  • 2 counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer
  • Breach of Probation

None of the charges have been proven in court.

Police have not released the name of the accused as he had not appeared in court at the time of the TBPS media release.
