Allan Gustafson Faces Charges in Whitesand Incident

THUNDER BAY, ON – On Sunday, November 5, 2017, at approximately 4:25 a.m., officers from the Armstrong Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an altercation at a residence on Whitesand First Nation.

Further investigation revealed that three people had been assaulted. One person suffered a serious injury and was transported to the hospital in Thunder Bay by land ambulance.

Allan GUSTAFSON, 59 years of age, from Whitesand First Nation was arrested and charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

-Assault (two counts) contrary to section 266,

-Assault Causing Bodily Harm contrary to section 267(b)

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Armstrong on January 9, 2018, to answer to the charges.

The accused is the Chief of Whitesand First Nation, and the incident flared up on social media on the community’s page.

None of the accusations have been proven in court.
