Kingston, ON – SPORTS – The Lakehead men’s basketball team (0-1) lost to Queen’s 95-68 tonight on the road in their first regular season game of the year.
The Gaels played a strong offensive game early on, finding creases and openings in the Lakehead defence. The Gaels closed the half with a big lead, 51-26.
Queen’s started the second half with a pair of mid-range jump shots and continued to share the ball to score back-to-back forcing Lakehead into a timeout. The Thunderwolves managed to score to close out the third, but it was not enough to keep the game close.
The Gaels finished the game out with a 95-68 victory.
“When a team shoots the ball that well and scores that easily we need to understand the results will be very similar. Add that we shot poorly means a receipt for disaster. The guys battled right until the end which was great to see.” – Coach Manny Furtado
Kache Kopec was the high scorer for the Wolves with 17 points and Nahshon Hurst had 13 points, 7 rebounds.
The Thunderwolves will now play York tomorrow at 8:00 pm.
