THUNDER BAY – LU SPORTS – The Lakehead women’s volleyball team starts the OUA regular season this weekend with a 3 game series against the Toronto Varsity Blues, Ryerson Rams, and Trent Excalibur.

All three pose unique challenges to the Thunderwolves starting off with last years OUA Bronze medalists, Toronto. The Blues are consistently a strong team with experienced attackers that will challenge Lakehead’s blockers and defenses. Ryerson provides one of the most physical middles and consistent attack on the outside while Trent is a young team that has been increased in size and experience.

Lakehead will lean heavily on fourth-years Leah Mousseau and Rheanna Geisel along with second-year Libero Ciara Zarn. Setters Jen Hammerton and Montana Green will add both experience and physicality to the Wolves lineup. Haleigh Kearns (Prince George, BC), Meghan Routier (Ottawa) and Abby Green (Toronto) bring a strong and effective work ethic to the court.

“It is an exciting group with a bright future and, as Coaches, we are proud of this teams development so far. Now it is about gaining invaluable experience and continue to grow,” says Coach Chris Green.
