Second Degree Murder Charges in Mishkeegogamang

OPP have laid a number of charges in a stolen vehicle investigation

Nishnawbe Aski PoliceMISHKEEGOGAMANG – On October 24, 2017, Lisa Marie KAMINAWAISH, a 39 -year-old female of Mishkeegogamang Lake First Nation was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder as a result of the death of a 34-year-old man. The investigation was led under the direction of Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with officers from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit.

On February 23, 2017, Delbert SAINNAWAP, a Mishkeegogamang Lake First Nation resident had sought medical treatment at Mishkeegogamang Health Centre for an injury sustained earlier in the week. He was then airlifted to Thunder Bay for medical treatment and subsequently passed away in hospital.

The accused remains in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on October 25, 2017.
