BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay AAA bantam Kings are off to a solid 2-0 start at the North American Future Prospects event taking place in Blaine, Minn.|
Thunder Bay opened up with a 7-4 triumph over the Sioux Falls Stampede before bouncing the Iowa Wild 9-2 in Day 1 play Friday.
In the win over Sioux Falls, the Kings got two goals apiece from Nolan Desjardins and Alex Atwill while Tyler Lewis, Noah Broughton and Hunter Matyasovszky supplied singles.
Shamus Stevenson chipped in with two assists in the triumph.
Picking up the win in net was Brayden McKever.
In the romp over the Wild, defenceman Jack Cook paced the Thunder Bay attack with a hat trick and a helper.
Desjardins meanwhile scored once more and set-up three more.
Also connecting for the Kings was Jacob Sargent with a pair and solo efforts courtesy of Matthew Valiquette, Stevenson and Jeremy Dunmore.
Gage Stewart earned the decision in goal for the bantams.
The Kings will meet Sioux Falls and Iowa again Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. respectively.
