Man Rescued from Abandoned Elevator

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reports that at approximately  23:00 Friday night, a call from Thunder Bay Police was received requesting assistance in locating a middle-aged male that was lost in an old abandoned elevator.

Numerous Police personnel were on scene as well as an Ambulance on standby.

Pumper 5 responded and after a brief time requested that Pumper 2 be dispatched to assist in a joint safe coordinated search effort.  Three search teams in pairs started

Three search teams in pairs started on the roof of the elevator and found nothing. They then proceeded down one floor and during an extensive search located the individual safe and sound. The patient was brought down to very happy family members.

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue advises that no one should go on this property as there are a lot of dangerous and life-threatening opening throughout the structure. A total of 2 Pumpers and 8 Firefighters attended.
