THUNDER BAY – The original painting, “Rossport”, by Red Rock artist Colleen Rose was up for auction for 10 days. The auction closed on October 9 and the highest bidder, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development & Labour and MP for Thunder Bay – Superior North, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, couldn’t be happier. “It’s such a lovely painting and to know that my purchase went towards the Northern Cancer Fund for breast cancer makes it even better,” said Hajdu, who won the painting with a bid of $750. “It’s so important to support cancer care close to home.”

Minister Hajdu already has plans for her new art piece, “I will be hanging it in Ottawa to remind me of home when I am away.”

If you missed out on winning the painting, you aren’t out of luck yet! Artist Colleen Rose will be releasing a special limited run of 50 prints available for purchase through healthsciencesfoundation.ca/etsy. Each print will be numbered and signed by Colleen, and framing is available for an additional fee. All proceeds from this sale will continue to support breast cancer care, diagnoses, and treatment through the Northern Cancer Fund. “We are so thrilled that Colleen donated ‘Rossport’ to the Health Sciences Foundation,” said Lindsay Doran, e-Philanthropy Officer. “Colleen’s vision was to fundraise for the Northern Cancer Fund during October, breast cancer awareness month, and we are grateful for the support we’ve received from the community with their generous bids.”

To purchase a print or for more information please visit healthsciencesfoundation.ca/etsy or call the Health Sciences Foundation at 345-HOPE.
