THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Lakehead Thunderwolves will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks at the Sun Life Arena in Waterloo. The opening face-off is set for 7:07 PM on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Recent Results

The Thunderwolves split a pair of home games last weekend with the Concordia Stingers. After a late rally fell short by a 4-3 margin on Friday night, Lakehead responded with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory in the Saturday rematch.

Laurier defeated crosstown rival Waterloo 5-2 last Thursday.

Series History

Lakehead leads Laurier in the all-time series between the two squads, with a record of 33-23 versus the Golden Hawks.

In the most recent meeting, the Thunderwolves travelled to Laurier last November and swept the Hawks by scores of 4-3 in both games.

About the Golden Hawks

Laurier finished in third place in the OUA West Division last season with a record of 15-9-4.

Forward Andrew Fritsch led the team in scoring last season, and Erik Pushka also has a knack for finding the back of the net.

On the back end, Mac Clutsam and Matt Franczyk are the top returning defencemen, and goaltender Colin Furlong is one of the best in the league.
