Serious Assault in Whitesand FN Results in Charges

ARMSTRONG – On Monday, October 9, 2017, at approximately 9:38 AM EDT, officers from the Armstrong Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault with a weapon that occurred at a residence on Whitesand First Nation.

Superior North Emergency Medical Services (EMS) had transported the victim to the Armstrong Airport as the victim was being flown to the hospital in Thunder Bay by air ambulance. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A twenty-three-year-old female from Whitesand First Nation was arrested and charged with:

-Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code, and

-Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (x 2).

She was held in custody for a video court appearance.
