Greenstone OPP Lay Third Commercial Motor Vehicle Charge

OPP have laid a number of charges in a stolen vehicle investigation

GREENSTONE – On Friday, October 6, 2017, at approximately 5:06 pm, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a tractor-trailer unit driving erratically on Highway 11 near Highway 625, east of Longlac, Ontario.

Police located the reported vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was disqualified from driving in Canada as a result of a prior conviction for impaired driving causing bodily harm. The driver, Kanwaljit RATHAUR, a thirty-two-year-old, of Calgary, Alberta now faces charges of:

  • Driving while disqualified contrary to section 259 (4) of the Criminal Code

Rathaur is scheduled to appear in Court in Geraldton, Ontario, on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 10:00 am to answer to the charges.

This is the third criminal driving charge laid in the Greenstone area against commercial motor vehicle drivers this week.
