THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police dealt with a situation in the downtown Fort William neighbourhood Wednesday. An arrest at about 3:00PM was made just outside the East Entrance of Victoriaville Mall. Eric Thomas Lindstrom, a forty-six-year-old male now faces a number of charges including kidnapping.
Thunder Bay Police have laid charges in connection with an abduction of a 28-year-old male. Police received information the morning of October 4, 2017, that a male had been abducted in the city’s south side.
Subsequent investigation led to an arrest on Victoria Avenue East outside of Victoriaville Mall at approximately 3:00 p.m. the same day.
A 46-year-old man along with a female was taken into custody at gunpoint by plain clothed officers following a traffic stop.
The female was later released unconditionally.
The twenty-eight-year-old male, the apparent kidnapping victim who is from southern Ontario, appears to have been the victim of a drug-related, targeted abduction according to Thunder Bay Police.
This victim has been safely located by the Thunder Bay Police.
The investigation is ongoing.
Eric Thomas LINDSTROM, 46, of Thunder Bay has been charged with:
· Kidnapping – CC 270 (1.1)(b)
· Uttering Threats – CC 264 (1)(a)
· Assault CC 266
· Breach of Probation CC 733.1(1)
This is not Lindstrom’s first encounter with the law. In 2012, Lindstrom was sent to prison for ten years after being convicted of the 2009 homicide of thirty-six-year-old Richard Ouiment. He was released early after serving his time in a reduced time program.
