Pre-Budget Meeting at Italian Hall
THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay is facing some real decisions when it comes to setting the annual budget.
At the Italian Hall tonight, a small crowd gathered to participate in a pre-budget consultation meeting. Likely the warm weather convinced a number of people to fire up the barbecue rather than fire up into a political discussion.
Thunder Bay City Councillor Frank Pullia says that over the past five years, the city has lost 80 per cent of the industrial tax base.
The city has been forced, Pullia explained to “sharpen their pencil” and to make some serious choices.
Moving forward with the budget the goal is to increase public input and consultation. That process is ongoing.
The process of putting the budget together started tonight, but the process isn’t ending yet. There will be additional townhall meetings, the opportunity for budget deputations, and of course you can contact your city councillors and share your ideas and input.
