Thunder Bay Police laid impaired driving chargesTHUNDER BAY – On Sunday, September 10, 2017 at approximately 11:05pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check on Balsam Street when a driver approached them and advised of an erratic driver in close vicinity.

Officers located the described vehicle, a white pickup truck, on Bryan Street in the City of Thunder Bay. Officers conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further tests.

Trevor VARGA, 35 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with:

-Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,

-Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code,

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on October 27, 2017 to answer to the charges.
