ATTAWAPISKAT – Nishnawbe Aski Police officers in Attawapiskat First Nation attended at the local airport with respect to a drug investigation.

Police seized Methamphetamine pills with a northern street value of twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars along with a small amount of marihuana, several bottles of alcohol totaling approximately four hundred twenty ($420.00) dollars, and eighty-three dollars and fifty cents ($83.50) in Canadian currency.

Thirty-one-year-old Larry EDWARDS of Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  EDWARDS has also been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime.

EDWARDS has been released on conditions and will next appear in court in Attawapiskat on September 27, 2017.

Attawapiskat First Nation is located approximately 630 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario.
