THUNDER BAY – LIVING – The Staal Foundation Open at the Whitewater Golf Club brings together much of what is really amazing about Thunder Bay. The volunteers line up in massive numbers dedicating countless hours with well over 400 people helping to bring this world-class event together are a clear demonstration of the power of good in Thunder Bay.
The PGA TOUR Canada players demonstrate all that is good about the great game of golf. These players are open and friendly for the fans, and especially for the youth. As these players make their way upward toward the Web.com tour, and then the PGA Tour, they are easy to approach and proving to be incredible ambassadors for the tour and the game.
There are several local players. Evan Degrazi and Dustin Barr, two Thunder Bay players who gained local exemptions to play were paired together along with Grant Fuhr.
What would any Thunder Bay event be without incredible food? The Staal Foundation Open features fantastic treats from the Breakfast Taco at Pinetree Catering which has a real Thunder Bay flavour with a bannock shell, Thunder Oak Gouda Cheese and fresh greens atop free range local scrambled eggs.
You can bring the kids along. The Boys and Girls Club have their climbing wall and bouncy castle to help keep the kids busy. The Canadian Army is on site and have their obstacle course which was a huge hit in past seasons.
Play on Friday will go into the evening with some players teeing off after 2:00PM EDT. Those players will likely finish their second round on Saturday morning.
