Healing Walk Finishes with Prayers to End Racism

THUNDER BAY – From Longlac to Thunder Bay, thirty walkers and ten helpers arrived in the City of Thunder Bay last night. This morning they headed out from Thunder Bay City Hall to Mount McKay after a pipe ceremony with prayers specifically to end racism.

Allan Towegishig says, “Everyday we pray for something. To end cancer, for the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women Girls and Men”. The Thunder Bay portion of the walk was started with prayers to unite our city and bring an end to the racial strife in the city.

Long Lake #58 Chief Veronica Waboose shared with NetNewsledger that what is needed is for the youth to discover who they are, and the best way to do that is to get the youth connected with the land.

The walkers headed out, many with sore muscles, blisters, and tired but happy that they have accomplished their goal.

What would be great is if their goals were achieved.
