Police Seek Escaped Prisoner

NIPIGON – On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at approximately 1:45 pm officers with the Anishnabek Police Service (APS) were transporting a male to the Thunder Bay District Jail when the male escaped lawful custody west of Gravel River at the Little Cypress Bridge snow plow turnaround.

The escaped male is described as Indigenous, approximately 5’9″ and 175 pounds with short dark hair and a goatee. He has a scar on his nose and is wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans.

Travellers in the area are requested to not stop for any male hitch-hikers, and to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 if anyone fitting the description of the escaped male is observed.

The OPP is on scene assisting APS with the search.
