THUNDER BAY – June 24, 2017 – Time of Report 16:15 Northwest Region

There were no new fires confirmed in the Northwest Region by the afternoon of June 24 but one new fire was confirmed in the region by day’s end on June 23.

Nipigon District Fire Number 007 was some cut wood burning on Black Sturgeon Road north of Dorion, about 75 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay. It was listed as being held at 5.5 hectares in size on June 24.

The forest fire hazard is low in the south and western sectors and moderate to the north and east.
