EABAMETOONG FN – On May 28, 2017, the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit executed two search warrants in Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope) with the assistance of the NAPS Emergency Response Team.
As a result of the search warrants police seized Oxycodone along with Marihuana, both seizures have a northern street value of approximately seven thousand two-hundred ($7,200.00) dollars. Police also seized three thousand two-hundred thirty-five ($3,235.00) in Canadian currency.
A thirty-five-year-old male has been charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime, two counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm, two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Breach of Probation.
A thirty-five-year-old female has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Substance, and Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime.
The thirty-five-year-old male has been remanded into custody and will next appear on May 29, 2017, in Thunder Bay. The thirty-five-year-old female has been released on conditions and will next appear in court on August 17, 2017 in Eabametoong First Nation.
Eabametoong First Nation is located approximately 385 km northeast of Thunder Bay.
