Robbery Attempt Injures Senior on North Side

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police were busy over the weekend. There were several missing people who were found, and the search effort for Josiah Begg is continuing. There were a number of assaults, including one in the Academy neighbourhood where allegedly a gang of youth with baseball bats were involved. Police were called out to 127 different incidents over the weekend. These included 18 calls involving violence, 49 Quality of life calls with either drugs or alcohol involved. There were also 25 reported incidents of property crime.

Police were called to the scene of a robbery Sunday afternoon which occurred in a north side parking lot.

A seventy-one-year old woman had just parked her car and was walking in a parking lot in the 800 block of Red River Road at approximately 1:42PM EDT on Sunday when police state that a male grabbed her purse.

During a struggle, the woman fell to the ground. The suspect was then able to flee with the woman’s purse.

The female victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Suspect Description:
· Light skinned male
· Age – 20’s
· Slim build
· Wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and white baseball cap
