Road Closure

THUNDER BAY – ROAD CLOSURES – Getting through the Thunder Bay Expressway is going to be a little harder for the next month. The Ministry of Transportation wishes to advise that traffic will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes, resulting in one lane of traffic for each direction of travel on Highway 61 at the Neebing River Bridge starting Monday, May 15.

These temporary lane restrictions are required to ensure the safety of road users and workers while the contractor prepares for final paving of the lanes.  Paving is scheduled to start late May/early June and all lanes are expected to reopen to traffic by early June.

This lane closure is necessary for the safety of the travelling public.  We apologize for the inconvenience and urge motorists to schedule their travel to minimize any delays.  Motorists are reminded to obey and follow all traffic signage for the safety of both workers and drivers.

For the latest information on highway closures and construction, the public can call 511, MTO’s Road Information Line or check www.ontario.ca/511.
